Ralph Vigo Koppitz

Chief Representative & Partner, Shanghai, Taylor Wessing

Ralph has specialised in all forms of business transactions in China, in particular on direct investment, project structuring, corporate, M&A, restructuring, since the mid '90s. His other major legal focus area is labor and social insurance.

He focuses on technology driven industries, in particular from the chemical, pharmaceutical, medical devices, cosmetics, machinery and service related sectors. Clients are multi-nationals and medium sized companies.

After having worked as associate in a major international law firm in Beijing, he joined Taylor Wessing in 2002. Ralph is a partner and the head / chief representative of the Taylor Wessing Shanghai office. The Shanghai office was licensed in 1996, followed by a second office in Beijing licensed in 2008. The China offices have been steadily growing and become part of the major foreign law firm offices in these cities.

Ralph is fluent in German, English, Mandarin Chinese and French.

His list of publications includes various articles in a number of different periodicals and newsletters focusing on China.

Due to his long term secondment to China, Ralph has established close contacts with relevant national and local authorities and institutions. He served as a member of the boards of both the EU and the German Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. Since 2010, he is elected as member to the board of the German School in Shanghai, where he currently serves as its vice chairman.
